The Tereora Job Fair was held on Friday 24 October 2025 at the Princess Hall, bringing together more than 20 vendors to inspire students about career opportunities across government, business, and community organisations.
This year, NES decided to do things a little differently. Instead of the usual career expo setup, NES offered a three-month internship—but with a twist! Students had to go through a mini recruitment process right there on the day. They filled out an application and cover letter form, submitted their CV, and then took part in a rapid-fire interview with NES staff. It was a fun, fast-paced, real-life experience of what job interviews can feel like—minus the suits and stress!
Throughout the morning, several students visited the NES booth to learn more about careers in environmental protection. Four students took up the challenge and applied for the internship.
After some great conversations and interviews, NES is excited to announce that the 2025 NES Internship goes to Emii Akava! Emii impressed the team with her curiosity, confidence, and passion for the environment—exactly the kind of spirit NES loves to see in future environmental leaders.
The internship will give Emii hands-on experience across NES projects, from environmental policy and planning to community outreach and conservation fieldwork.
