NES is calling on volunteers across the Cook Islands to take part in World Cleanup Day 2026 on Friday 25 September 2026 and help clean up our beaches, roadsides, community spaces and other areas.

If you’re unable to take part on Friday, you can complete your cleanup at any time during the week of 21–25 September 2026.

We encourage participants to reuse suitable bags or sacks they may already have available. Cleanup sacks will also be available from NES in Rarotonga from 21–24 September. Pa Enua participants may use suitable reusable bags or sacks available locally, or contact their NES Environment Officer if needed.

All waste collected will be weighed, and NES encourages participants to sort waste into the appropriate categories:

• General Waste – Other rubbish that cannot be separated for recycling
• Aluminum/Tin cans
• Plastic Bottles
• Glass bottles
• Bulky Waste – scrap metals, tyres, whiteware, electronic waste

All waste collected will be weighed, and NES encourages participants to sort waste into the appropriate categories.

Once your cleanup is complete, contact NES on 55 507 to arrange or confirm waste collection and weighing.
