This initiative proudly aligns with the King’s Baton Relay as the Cook Islands prepares for the upcoming Commonwealth Games. With sustainability at the heart of this year’s Games, this clean-up reflects our shared commitment to protecting the environment while celebrating sport, unity, and national pride.
Further, this aligns with POLP’s mission to reduce plastic waste and prevent marine pollution, while advancing the Cook Islands National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan (NBSAP) vision of “Thriving biodiversity, Thriving people, Thriving Future for all.” It also reflects our collective responsibility as guardians of our Marae Moana — protecting our oceans today to ensure a healthy and resilient future for generations to come.
