The National Environment Service (NES) is pleased to welcome Anita Harmon, who joined the organisation in December 2025 as the (ODA) Finance Officer.
Anita is of Kiribati descent and holds a Bachelor of Business (Accounting) and an Advanced Diploma in Professional Accounting. She brings with her over 10 years of experience as a Financial Auditor and Senior Financial Auditor with the Cook Islands Audit Office. Through this role, Anita has developed strong expertise in public financial management systems, compliance and regulatory frameworks, audit standards and reporting requirements, and multi-stakeholder assurance processes.
In her new role at NES, Anita will support the financial management of ODA-funded projects within the National Environment Service, with more than $7 million in project funds expected to flow into the country over the next five years. She will play a key role in financial coordination, reconciliations, and reporting, ensuring that donor requirements are met and that funds are managed transparently and efficiently.This role is critical in strengthening fiduciary controls, improving financial oversight, and ensuring a high level of accountability to development partners.
NES warmly welcomes Anita to the team and looks forward to the valuable contribution she will make in supporting the delivery of environmental programmes and projects across the Cook Islands.
