Between May and August 2025, the NES approved more than 60 applications across building permits, emergency provisions, environmental approvals, consents, and impact assessments. Each approval process helps ensure that development activities are carried out responsibly and in line with environmental standards.
During this period, the Environmental Compliance team responded to three complaints which included animal farm overflow, illegal dumping and stream clearance concerns. The team also issued four formal notices in the form of Stop Work and Warning Notices for non-compliance. These actions highlight NES’s continued role in reducing environmental risks and protecting community wellbeing.
“Compliance is one of the key ways NES protects our environment. By working alongside the public, we can prevent harm and maintain safe, healthy surroundings,” says Vavia Tangataia, Environmental Compliance Manager.
