NES released a World Ozone Day art competition that was promoted in Cook Islands News recently. The art competition portrayed the significance of World Ozone Day, which is held annually on the 16th September. This day was organized by the United Nations to celebrate our planet’s vital shield: the Ozone Layer. This year’s theme, “Advancing Climate Action,” invites us to reflect on the climate benefits of protecting our ozone layer. The Montreal Protocol on Ozone Depleting Substances, which the Cook Islands joined in 2003, has united the world to actively protect our ozone layer, which also supports our collective battle against climate change.
The art competition displayed two categories for participants to show off their creativity with some awesome prizes available for the winners:
$250 for 1st place, $100 for 2nd, and $50 for 3rd!
The competition closed on the 30th September with over 300 submissions, many of them coming from the Pa Enua,
